Safe House in Ghana

In Ghana, internal trafficking is a crucial challenge. Mostly young women and children in poverty-stricken areas are subjected to trafficking and exploitation. Girls as young as ten years leave their homes without parental consent to travel to the cities looking for greener pastures. Most times, they fall into the hands of traffickers who force them into prostitution and child labour. This is why we saw the need to open a safe house in Ghana.

We are happy to announce that we have finally been able to reopen this safe house after a change in leadership. The building has recently been reconstructed and the Lord provided amazing house mothers so that we are now housing girls. These girls have been rescued from trafficking or other abusive and exploitative situations.

At the safe house, these girls receive physical, emotional, and spiritual care. There are also eight girls who are learning through our skills training project, so that they can have a trade. This makes them less vulnerable when reentering society. This helps them become more independent so that they have the ability to provide for themselves and their families.

Prayer Requests for the Safe House in Ghana:

  • Pray that God will move the hearts of the local sub chiefs to stop using their houses as prostitution bases for Nigeria immigrants.
  • Pray for finances to complete the second phase of the Safe House renovation work.
