AIDSHope

In 2005 AIDS Hope was launched as an answer to the AIDS pandemic in South Africa. This project has the vision of seeing hope and dignity restored in people’s lives through Christ. There are more than 1.8 million orphans due to AIDS and we need to respond to this crisis. Children no longer have people in their lives that they can go to for help. We want to provide a stable environment for children to come, learn, grow, and heal.

Located in Mamelodi, South Africa, AIDSHope runs an afterschool program that provides holistic care for orphaned and vulnerable children either living with or affected by HIV and AIDS. Social workers and teachers have identified these children as needing extra support.

In addition, AIDSHope reaches out to the community through visiting various groups of vulnerable people such as, drug users, preschool teachers, people living with HIV, people who are not able to read, and other children and youth. We partner with local churches to meet the practical needs of the community and be a voice of hope to those around us. We offer trainings on HIV and AIDS and reach out to the youth, especially those coming from broken homes, to be an example and safe place for them.

In 2009, AIDS Hope began an after-school program for orphans and vulnerable children. Monday-Thursday afternoon after school, the team is joined by 30 children affected or infected by HIV. These children have been identified by social workers and teachers as needing extra support.

Partner with us

COVID-19 hit our community very hard, in that many who worked daily for food, could no longer work. Students fell far behind in school. And we are still recovering from those effects today. Please pray for our community and that God will provide not only physical provision, but spiritual awakening as well!

Many of these children are orphans and in foster homes. Some have faced, and are still facing, abuse, neglect, bereavement, and poverty. We seek to meet their needs holistically. This is done by providing nutritious meals, helping with homework, academic intervention for struggling learners, counseling and play therapy, and spiritual input.

We partner with local churches to meet the practical needs of the community and be a voice of hope to those around us. Also, we offer trainings on HIV and AIDS and reach out to the youth, especially those coming from broken homes, to be an example and safe place for them.
